My Journey to God

One Word

I sit in prayer.
Petitioning for family and friends,
for those who say, “Please pray for me.”
So many words …
Jesus holds out His hand
and utters one word,
“Come.”

I empty my heart to Jesus.
All the worries, all the frustrations,
the temptations that tug at my soul.
A torrent of words …
He opens his arms wide
and speaks one word,
“Come.”

Someone is struggling.
Searching for love,
discerning their purpose.
A cascade of words …
My heart is stirred by the Spirit.
A single word falls from my lips.
“Come.”
