General Announcements
Archbishop Thompson will celebrate Mass for Season of Creation on Sept. 8
The annual Mass for the Season of Creation will be celebrated by Archbishop Charles C. Thompson at Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Church, 5692 Central Ave., in Indianapolis, at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 8, followed by a reception and presentation in the parish’s gathering space.
The Season of Creation is celebrated by many faiths each year between Sept. 1, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and Oct. 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of ecology.
At the reception, members of the IHM Care for Creation team will present on the parish’s solar panel project—to be implemented this fall—including why the parish chose to install solar panels, where they will be placed, anticipated benefits and more. Light refreshments will be served, and a few seventh- and eighth-grade students have been invited to share their essays about environmental concerns and how the Catholic faith is integral to ecology.
All are invited to the Mass and reception, which is sponsored by the archdiocesan Creation Care team.
For more information, contact Larry Coan at 317-797-4502 or coachcoanihm@gmail.com.
