My Journey to God

The Night We Called It a Day

In that night we called it a day,
The world unstitched its common seam.
I went into the quiet gray,
And you dissolved into the stream—

A parting whispered in the dark,
A fading shore, a severed spark.
When you become religious,
The old foundations break apart;
A quiet, holy tempestuousness
Sweeps through the chambers of the heart.

You are never the same when the veil is drawn,
And the secular shadows turn to dawn.
Something dies in you,
The noise of ego, fierce and loud,
The ambition that consumed the view,
Dissolving like a summer cloud.

And something awakens without a name,
A breath untouched by human speech,
A quiet, unconsuming flame
Beyond the mind’s horizon reach—
An empty vessel, cast anew,
Where God begins, and life breaks through.
